PLATFORM: Macintosh OS Tiger 10.4.x
PROGRAM:Cubase SX 3
PROBLEM: After installation, Cubase seemed to working fine and loading up but MIDI was not working. The strange thing is everything looked like it should be working - It was recognizing the MIDI controller in the Cubase Device Setup, recognising it in the Macintosh Audio/Midi application and responding to it in the transport, but it would not play a software instrument
SOLUTION: After reinstalling the controller driver and making sure we had the latest Cubase update, it was still not working. In talking with Steinberg Cubase support here in Canada, they instructed me to drag the Cubase preferences out of the Library folder (should be the USER > Library) - Take the whole folder and put it on the desktop. Then start up cubase again. This WILL wipe out all your preferences, so be prepared for this - you will have to reset a number of things after you do this, but it should do the trip. Keep in mind this is the last resort before re-installing the entire application.

PLATFORM: Windows XP
PROGRAM:Cubase SX 3.01 (the first update)
PROBLEM: After updating Cubase SX 3.0 to 3.0.1 there are two problems: First, under the MIDI device manager, when clicking install new device one should get a list of scripts, but all that was there was define new rather than a list of external MIDI devices that one could install. Second, the click was no longer working.
SOLUTION: In talking with Steinberg Cubase support here in Canada, they e-mailed me the following file, available for download below, which they instructed me to extract it and place it in the application data folder for Cubase SX 3. (Basically drop the new scripts folder into Program Files/Steinberg/Cubase SX 3/ )
THE DOWNLOAD: cubasescripts.zip
